The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a museum of living flowers and plants. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden was founded in 1910 and is an  52-acre  urban sanctuary that features more than 12,000 species and cultivars of plants from around the world. With every season there is so much to see in the many gardens within The Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Housed within the Gardens is the  Steinhardt Conservatory which houses the Garden’s collection of plants that live in habitats ranging from the tropics to deserts. There is also the beautiful Japanese Hill and Garden Pond and the Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk.  The Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be expanding the Discovery Garden for kids with new interactive exhibits expected to open in 2015. In the meantime on most weekday mornings from April to November staff is on hand offering kid-friendly learning activities and on weekends kids can pot a plant to take home.
Leif and I paid a visit to the Garden on Tuesday which is their free admission day. Leif and I had an amazing time walking the paths, exploring exotic habitats in the Steinhardt Conservatory, touching and smelling the flowers and plants in the Fragrance Garden, beholding the wonder of the Cherry Blossoms and just being one with nature. He was so excited the whole day and just kept saying that this place is so beautiful and he is so right!
